Hello, everyone! Permit me to inform you of me, a quick there and gone biography of, you guessed it! Of moi. I'm A. Katie Rose, author of "In a Wolf's Eyes", my debut epic fantasy novel. I also wrote the second of the "Saga of the Black Wolf series, "Catch a Wolf", newly released from Untreed Reads Publishing. I'm also the author of "The Unforgiven", the book I'm writing on this blog. Read chapters one and two, and pay attention - there will be a quiz later.
Though I current
For this post, I thought I’d offer up a scene from “Catch a Wolf” that I really liked writing, but decided it really wasn’t right for the book or Ly’Tana. So I rewrote the scene into what was published, making Ly’Tana murderously angry but not totally out of her mind. As I like to save stuff that I delete, because I can look at it later and if it didn’t work for this book or character, I might use it in another. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it! I
For this blog post, I thought you might like to read another scene from “Catch a Wolf” I cut. I like to watch the deleted scenes from shows I watch, for it makes the episode more interesting. “All right, who volunteers to cook the rest of the meat for trave ling?” I asked the room. “Tor deserves a well-earned respite.” Witraz sighed. “Alun and I will.” Alun rounded on him in a huff before glancing at me. He relented with a sigh of his own. “He and I,” he muttered. “Left and R
How would you say Untreed reads is different than traditional publishing houses? The personal attention I received. When I first submitted to Jay Hartman, within 24 hours I received a personal note, addressing me as “Kathleen” (call me that and you’re dead), and informing me of what I needed to be informed of. Other e-publishers sent me an auto-response “We have received your submission – please wait whatever X amount of days before worrying we don’t like you”, without even k
In another "OMG!" moment, my novel, "The Unforgiven" received not just a great review from the esteemed book review and marketing organization, Kirkus, it received the Kirkus star of exceptional merit. MY BOOK! KIRKUS REVIEW In this medieval tale, the conflict between two rival kingdoms escalates over an ancient prophecy. Vanyar, a shape-shifter, former soldier, and drunkard, has just been tossed from a tavern in his native land of Bryn’Cairdha. On the grimy streets, he’s soo
Greetings, guys and dolls! You found my blog at last! Should I congratulate you or remind you that you've more interesting places to visit on your evenings? Surf the great information highway, you might. Find facts and bs, of course. Wish you hadn't turned on your computer, well, that's a done deal. But this here site has great books to buy and a fascinating author to write them. This is the place where you'll find the real me. Yeah, I live in a world of fantasy. Yet, I stil
Meet Rae. If you read my previous blog regarding her, she's a very special little calico cat. I rescued her from the highway, hunted for her at night when she wouldn't come home on time, and prayed for her more than any other cat. She's been a trial, but that doesn't mean she wasn't worth it. Over the last several months, Rae's liver had gone viral. Her bilirubins made her ears, gums and eyes yellow. I didn't have a lot of money. Still don't. So I treated her myself - SAM-e,
